GAANN Fellowship in Computer and Computational Sciences
Application
The Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) program provides fellowships through academic departments of institutions of higher education to assist graduate students of superior ability who (1) demonstrate financial need, (2) plan to pursue Ph. D. degrees, and (3) plan a career in teaching or research.
GAANN Fellow Conditions and Obligations
To be eligible for a fellowship, a fellow must
- Maintain satisfactory progress in the program for which the fellowship was awarded;
- Devote essentially full time to study or research in the academic field in which the fellowship was awarded; and
- Not engage in gainful employment, except on a part-time basis in teaching, research, or similar activities determined by the academic department to be in support of the fellow's progress toward a degree.
- GAANN Fellows must fulfill a minimum of 1 year of supervised training in instruction for students and must enrollment in one Teaching Strategies course as required. The fellows are expected to participation in departmental outreach efforts for K-12 programs and other teaching workshops .
Application Process
- Apply for graduate admissions to our Ph. D. Program (if you are not a Ph. D. student in the department).
- Apply for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on the Department of Education Web Site.
- Complete GAANN Application form (Word File) and submit it.
