Review List Feb. 13, 2003 Exam COSC 6340
The first exam of COSC 6340 is scheduled for
Th., Feb. 13, 11:30-1:00p. The exam will be "open textbooks and notes".
The following material is relevant
for the exam (references below refer to the third edition
of the Ramakrishnan book):
- Chapter 1: Sections 1.4, 1.5, and 1.7 and transparencies discussed in the first class of the semester
- Everything that was discussed in class conc. the E/R model
(even if it is not discussed in
Raghu's textbook), and material
on B+-tree transparencies, even if it is not discussed in the
textbook). Also
be prepared to design E/R schemas using the advanced data modelling constructs that were used in class.
- Chapter 2 completely
- Chapter 3 excluding 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, and 3.9
- Chapter 4: Sections 4.1 and 4.2(except division)
- Chapter 5: Sections 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4
- Chapter 8 completely
- Chapter 9: Sections 9.1, 9.2, and 9.3
- Material on B+-trees discussed in class (hint: focus on the material on the course transparencies
when preparing for the exam) and Chapter 10 Sections 10.1 through 10.7
- Chapter 11 excluding linear hashing
- Chapter 16: Section 16.1, 16.2, 16.3 and 16.4
