Laguna Beach Summer 2005
In May 2002, I was rewarded my undergraduate degree in psychology from the
University of Houston. My future studies in the field of computer science
would
most likely be in artificial intelligence. Primarily my interests lie in
the
study of our complex minds. In addition, I am working part-time as a
Board Certified Pharmacy
Technician.
Last spring semester(2004) I collaborated with a research team at the
Rice University Computer Science Department conducting
research on MetaOcaml, a programming language that is a multi-stage
extension of the OCaml programming language. At the closing of the
spring semester, a report entitled "A Gentler Introduction to Multi-stage
Programming and Metaocaml" was written summarizing what I learned.
Winter 2005, I decided to leave my job at the pharmacy to focus more
fully in my studies in Computer Science. Spring 2005, I was awarded the
Graduate Assistant Teaching Fellowship and worked as a teaching assistant
for an introductory course in computer science at UH.
At the current time, I am a graduate student in the University of Houston(UH) working towards my Master's
degree in the field. My primary focus is in developing tools for high
performance computing. Fall 2005, my fellowship awarded in the previous
semester was renewed and currently I am working as a research assistant at
UH with the High
Performance
Computing Tools Group(HPCT). Dr.
Barbara Chapman is my thesis advisor
and
heads the HPCT group.
