Dr. Stephen Huang, Associate Professor of Computer Science,
was interviewed by a reporter from KTRK TV News on January 27,
1998. Reporter Chris Adams from the local ABC
affiliate talked
to Prof. Huang about retrieving news on Internet for about an
hour Tuesday afternoon.
The report, titled "Crisis Online,"
was aired on January 27 during the 6pm evening news.
The reporter
was comparing how people get their news during a crisis situation
such as the allegations against President Clinton. Dr. Huang
demonstrated how easy it is to retrieve news in various format
(text, audio, and video).
Dr. Huang pointed out that, with Internet,
we can now choose the news that we are interested in when we
want it instead of waiting for the TV news or printed media.
The news team from KTRK also visited the Department’s Computer
Lab. They talked to a few Computer Science students on the same
issue. The viewers got a chance to see students working in front
of the Unix Workstations in the Department Lab. Dr. Huang has been
teaching a popular course on Internet Computing for about a year.
