                      EP Fall 1999

Quiz1 is scheduled for Tu., Oct. 7, 11:30a. It is
open textbook, will take approx. 50 minutes, and will cover the 
following material

1) Set0, Set1 and first 7 transparencies of Set2 of the Course Marial
2) Michaliwicz book pages 1-31, 45-55, 65-67.
3) Koza book chapters on Genetic Programming (only bird's perspective
   style questions)
4) Examples for EP / ES / GA style systems discussed in class

Moreover you should have some knowledge about the following
algorithms and techniques:

1) Simulated Annealing and Hill Climbing
2) Roulette Wheel and Tournament Selection, fitness function scaling
3) Crossover operaters for real-valued chromosomal representations
