Writing Introduction of your research paper
Write the Introduction section of your research paper. There are many ways to write an Introduction but in this assignment we will follow a particular template to write an Introduction. We discussed the six questions courtesy Widom (copied below) to help us think about the components of the Introduction section of a research paper.
Questions to consider:
- What is the problem?
- Why is it interesting and important?
- Why is it hard? (E.g., why do naive approaches fail?)
- Why hasn't it been solved before? (Or, what's wrong with previous proposed solutions? How does mine differ?)
- What are the key components of my approach and results? Also include any specific limitations.
- Summary of results and contributions?
First, without using AI, write bullet points or a rough draft of answer to these questions. Then, you can use AI tools to polish the writing for each paragraph. In your writeup, please include: (1) your initial non-AI writeup (it is ok if the writing is not polished for this part) (2) prompts/system/configuration used to clean up your introduction (3) What aspects of introduction did AI tool did a bad job (hallucination, fake novelty, exaggeration, etc.)? Give some examples (3) What/how did you fix the AI output to come up with the final submission version of the introduction? You must read and check every word in the introduction be able to stand by it. (4) Your final version of introduction. (5) Your suggestoin for future researchers on how to use AI tools to effectively write introduction of research papers.
Please use a conference LaTeX template for this submission. Your submission should be 3-4 pages in length total covering all five components listed above.
