Computer Science 3410 - Lab Information
Design Entry using Schematics - Building the Waveform
Open the waveform editor: MAX+plusII -> Waveform Editor
Select File -> Save As
In the box labeled File Name, type the name schematic1.scf
Selecting Input: Select Node -> Enter Nodes from SNF. Click on the List button in the box labeled Available Nodes and Groups. Click on the input name from your schematic. Click the "=>" button to copy it to the box on the left. Repeat for all inputs and outputs.
Select Options -> Grid Size. Type 20ns.
Select File -> End Time and type in the value for the total simulation time (for this function, since we have 3 inputs, we will have 23 = 8 valuations). So the End Time should be (20ns)(8) = 160ns.
Duplicating the truth table onto the waveform
By pressing the icon in the top left corner (looks like two arrows pointing left and right), you can highlight any 20ns portion of an input by pressing and dragging the mouse pointer over the waveform for the input. The waveform editor will then automatically change the present value from 0 to 1. Repeat this procedure for the inputs only.
Note: you cannot modify the output. The selected values for the input will be simulated with the circuit and the values for the output will be generated in the next step.
