Overview
COSC 4377 is a senior level networking course. The goal of this course is to provide foundational knowledge about networking, with a focus on understanding how the various systems that constitute the Internet work.
Required prerequisites
COSC 2310 – Data Structures, and COSC 2410 – Computer Organization and Programming.
Recommended prerequisites
COSC 4330 – Fundamentals of Operating Systems. May be taken concurrently.
Textbook
Computer Networking, 8th edition by James Kurose & Keith Ross
Exams
There are two exams. Mid-term exam will take place on March 24, 2021. Final exam will take place on Monday May 10, 2021 during 2-5pm. There are no make-up exams. The exam will not be administered in-person and will have flexible options online.

Lectures
Lectures will take place on Microsoft Teams group for the class. The lectures will be recorded and made avaialble in the class channel.
Homework
Homework will be of three types: book homework; hands-on activities and light programming. They will all be submitted on Blackboard so familiarize yourself with the course Blackboard pages. We will try to have one homework every 1-2 weeks. Late homework submissions will not be accepted.
Emergencies
If you cannot submit your homework, projects or be in class for the exam due to family, personal, or medical emergencies, you must document your case with the appropriate UH officials in advance of the relevant deadlines.
Academic Honesty
