Dr. Stephen Huang's Research Page

Dr. Huang's research interests include Cybersecurity,Machine Learning, Data Science, and Algorithms. The department's Cybersecurity program has been designated as Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Research by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

For graduate students, there are several opportunities to work with Dr. Huang in cybersecurity research.

  • Dr. Huang has received a US Department of Education's Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN, https://www2.cs.uh.edu/gaann/) Fellowship award to support five Ph.D. students. There are openings available for eligibal doctoral students. See the GAANN website for moreinformation. Fellows supported by this award may work with CS professors in cybersecurity-related research.
  • Dr. Huang is also supported by the National Security Agency (NSA) on "Automated Intrusion Detection: An Anomaly Detection Approach to Metadata Traffic Analysis". Research Assistant (RA) positions for Ph.D. students are available.
  • One position as Teaching Assistant (TA) is available for this semester.
