Computer Science 3410 - Lab Information
Mixed Design Entry
If you have built something (via vhdl, schematic, or truth table) and you would like to use it as a symbol (an instance of it) in your schematic, you must do the following.
- Once you have saved the file (ie. the schematic, vhdl, or truth table waveform), you need to create a default symbol. Click File -> Create a Default Symbol. This will allow you to use the circuit you have just built within another circuit.
- All the files from this project must be located in the same directory (folder) that you are building the higher level circuit in. (ie. If you have built a half-adder, and created a symbol for it and now you want to use instances of it to make a full-adder, make sure all the files for half-adder are in the same directory as the files for the full-adder)
