12/23, 9:10a 9.0M Hiking Along Braes Bayou from Gragg Park (almost) to Houston Ship Channel with the HATS Meetup Group. 2:49:12 (?) (3.19M per hour) Houston, Texas HB T=44-55 amd partly cloudy; nice hike in quite cold conditions: had lunch at the 8th Wonder Brewery with a lot of beer and porky waffle fries: it warmed up just in time to be able to sit outside!
12/24 12/25, 8:10a 5.0M easy 54:57 AllenR GH10 T=40-42, H=66% and mostly cloudy; somewhat stuggeling. Was really still quite sore yesterday from Saturday's hike, and therefore postponed the run by a day!
12/26, 12:10p 6.0M run-walked 1:23:13 Seawall, Galveston R8 T=47, H=96% occasional, light drizzel and 15m/h wind; not in the mood today!
12/28, 12:10p 5.3M easy 56:12 Allen WR20 T=42-43, H=86% and overcast; okay run!
12/29, 12:10p 3.5M aborted workout UH_DT1 R8 T=44, H=76% and overcast; right calf muscle acted up and started to feel sore, and I decided to walk and also to cancel the planned HATS hike for tomorrow.
12/31, 5:15p 5.3M easy 55:57 Allen WR20 T=49-48, H=52% and overcast; decent run!
1/2, 4:05p 5.4M easy 57:02 Allen R8 T=35-34, H=48% and overcast; okay run, wearing tights in unusually cold conditions.
1/4, 4:40p 5.1M easy 1:00:12 (walked mile 4) TownLake (FStSouth to Long Horn Dam and back), Austin R8 T=47-,and overcast; stuggled in the middle of the run with the food I ate at 1:50p, and walked mile 3, but then was able to finish at a decent pace.
1/6, 11:40a 6.2M easy 1:06:17 TownLake (MoPAC Congress Av. Bridge Loop with addon), Austin GH10 T=57+,and partly cloudy; ran the whole way, but at a quite slow pace, the hillyness and trail-style footing of the route contributing to the slowness. But this was alright, as I did not feel well and somewhat nauseated yesterday, and did not play that well at the Austin Bridge tournament, although our team still managed to place second.
1/7, 11:30a 6.5M Hiking Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail 2:05:21 (3.1M/h) Austin, Texas GH10 T=61+ and overcast; hiking the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail, starting from Zilker Park, the first time since 2006. After the hike, I went to the Austin Beer Garden Brewery (ABGB), on Oltorf near Lamar, and had a (quart) Daytrip Pale Ale and some seafood chowder; it started to drizzel when I arrived at the Beer Garden, and I stayed inside, sitting on one of the two very very long tables inside.
1/8, 11:20a 10.0M easy 1:47:08 (miles 2-3&5-9: 10:40-pace, mile 10: 9:47-pace) TownLake (starting FiStS 1 loop), Austin R8 T=59-63, H=40-34%, sunny with 9mph NW wind; very good run as I finished very strong; first time, since a while that I did not face any minor irritations from my left knee. First time I ran the new Town Lake Loop Route (without construction) and it measures 9.95M: a quarter mile shorter than the "old route".
1/11, 7:30a 5.3M easy 57:09 Allen WR20 T=61-62, H=93-92% and overcast; not a good run! 187.6p.
1/12, 12:05p 4.9M (walked 1.4M) run-walked UH_DT1 GH10 T=41+ and sunny; felt strangly exhausted after 2.5M, and took it easy!
1/14, 10:10a 5.2M easy 54:27 AllenR WR20 T=44+ and sunny; ran mile 24 of the marathon with people that were supposed to finish 4:25; decent run!
1/15, 2:50p 11.2M easy 2:14:20 (walked miles 5 and 9 and the last mile) H_Ta-Mem(1.6)-H R8 T=67-60, H=57-67%, mostly cloudy then overcast; after a Bridge game, skipping lunch. Did not feel well at all the first third, but then surprisingly was able to complete the planned distance, although walking almost 3 miles! 185.2p.
1/17, 11:35p 5.3M (walked 1.7M) run-walked 1:11:33 UH_DT1 WR20 T=29+ and sunny; was kind of dehydrated and the water fountains were not working.
1/20, 7:25a 5.3M easy 57:32 Allen R8 T=55-56, H=89%+, overcast then rain the last 15 minutes; quite slow today! 191.4p (no BPM for 3 days!)
1/22, 7:10a 12.7M easy 2:19:40 H-Mem(2.2)-H GH10 T=61-59-61, H=33%, partly cloudy; good run, as I ran the whole way with mile 12 being the fastest mile! 3 Monday long runs in a row!
1/24, 1:15p 5.5M (walked last mile) m: 1800 1:02:14 UH_DT3 WR20 T=61-64; H=21% and sunny; ran the "fast" 1800 meters in about 9:25-pace; but was breathing quite hard after the workout, and decided to walk the last mile! 185.8p (with BPM; second day!).
1/26, 6:50a 5.3M easy 57:46 Allen GH10 T=55, H=86% and mostly cloudy; much warmer than predicted...; not a good run, feeling somewhat bloated.
1/28, 7:50a 10.3M Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K 1:32:10 (9:51-pace; 9:21 9:42 9:43 9:46 10:05 10:01 10:31 10:11 9:24 8:59(0.32M) ) Houston, Texas BoBoo6 T=60-61, H=96-93% and overcast. Kind of an okay race, as it was quite humid; walked 3x90 seconds during miles 6-8; ran too conservatively, as I had too much gas left in the tank for the last 1.3M, but it was the first race since 8 months. 7/17a, 344/1447o.

WR20:= Mizuno Wave Rider 20; size 11; 10.9oz (size 9) 63/89/70/65/39/48/73/12/30, bought on October 26, 2016; first run on December 25, 2016, 431.5M as off December 31, 2017; to be retired on January 31, 2018!
R8:= Saucony Ride 8 medium is a light, very stiff shoe with a lot of forefoot and less heel cushioning, SIL/RED/CTN, S20273-1, medium, size 11; 9.6 oz; 46/33/54/55/78/92/47/12/50 bought on March 18, 2017 at the Shamrock Marathon Expo: $60 looked like a too good price to resist, inspite of the fact that this shoe was produced 18-24 months ago; first run on May 17, 2017; 224.9M as off December 31, 2017.
GH10:= Brooks Ghost 10 in Electic Brooks blue, size 11; 110257 1D 056, bought on September 1, 2017, first run on September 30, 2017, 86.5M as off December 31, 2017, 10.2 oz, 53/77/75/94/59/79/27/85/81.

Running Routes

Allen:=Allen Park Way 4.75 miles loop; mildly rolling mostly on asphalt, also called Eleanor Tinsley Park and Buffalo Bayou Trail
UH_DT:= going to Sabine Bridge via Taft and then continuing north east on a new narrow bike path along Buffalo Bayou to the door steps of UH-Downtown and back---a 5.0M run from where I live; the slightly longer route UH-DT2, returning via PM-Bridge and Y-bridge via Montrose, finishing on Clay is 5.5M, and UH_DT3 going back via the long, new bridge is 6.8M
UH_Allen:= 7.4M doing the Allen Parkway loop with a side trip to UH Downtown.
MemPa:=Memorial Park 2.93 miles packed dirt trail loop
RiceHerm:=Rice University and Herrman Park Loop
RiceBraes:= Modified 6.7M route of the BCRR Wednesday 6.57M Route going from Rice University to the Medical Center via Braes Bayou turning of the bayou at Montclair and then going north on Morningside at the water fountain, turning right/left into Swift/Stockton (estimated length 6.76M).
RivOk :=River Oaks Loop
RivOkAll := River Oaks Loop with Allen Park Way Loop continuation
Hershey:= going through Terry Hershey Park (TH-Park Map) and also running on Barker Dam on the other side of Highway 6.
HoChi:= Ho Chi Minh Trail south of Memorial Park, is a jungle-like trail going through dense bushes and forrest with ups and down; however, the purple trail (estimated length 1.93M) has very good footing and can even be used for speed work.
H-Mem(Y)-H:= from home going to Memorial Park via Montrose/Pedestrian Bridge, then doing X loops in Memorial Park and back the same way; 10M, 12.9M, 15.9M, 18.8M for 1, 2, 3, 4 Memorial Park loops.
TownL:=10.2M Town Lake Trail in Austin
Shoal-Cr:=going down Shoalcreek in Austin towards Town Lake usually starting at Northcross continuing east on Foster Kane and then going south on Shoalcreek and back, running on the bike lane.
East Beach:= Going from your Galveston hotel via Seawall to the east end of Galveston Island, then following the 5.2M East Beach Loop: south on Boddeker Drive, continuing on the beach going west for about a mile connecting via Apfel Park Road going north then west and then north again back to Seawall, possibly repeating this loop multiple times, and then running back to your Galveston hotel, usually seeing a lot of fisherman.
